FUNDANA is a non-profit civil organization, that provides support to the National System for the Protection of Children and Adolescents, with over 25 years’ experience developing social, family and children attention programs. Our programs aim to provide protection, restitution, and support to guarantee and respect the rights of children and adolescents, women and families, by implementing shelter and family placement programs, and by providing attention, family orientation and community prevention.
FUNDANA was created on August 12, 1991, to protect and form children living in maximum social exclusion, from birth to age 6. These are abandoned children, forgotten by society, children that have never known the warmth of a home.
In accordance with the Law for the Protection of Children and Adolescents (LOPNNA), FUNDANA opened in December 2004 Venezuela’s first residential care project, Las Villas de los Chiquiticos (The Liitle Ones’ Villas). These are 10 small houses where eight to ten children live, cared for by significant adults (a “godmother” and an “aunt”), supported by the Integral Support Center (CAI), composed by a multi-disciplinary professional group (psychologists, social workers, nutritionists, pediatricians, language therapists, and others)
