Why help the children of Venezuela?

In today's Venezuela, more than 80% of households live in poverty. This affects their basic needs such as food, shelter and education. Our children have not been fortunate enough to have the nurturing and loving family they deserve. Fundana gives them a second chance to be respected, valued and especially to develop the maximum of all their capacities to become healthy and productive adults

How do I know that Fundana is a trustworthy Foundation to give my help?

We have a 30-year history operating in Venezuela. We are audited by Espineira, Sheldon and Associates of Price Waterhouse, and our licenses are annually renewed through Government entities. We have been chosen by UNICEF, UCNUR and Save the Children's, as local allies for our transparency and efficiency in the services we provide. We also guarantee that all contributions are translated into direct benefit for our Programs.

How does Fundana support itself?

We support ourselves through personal and corporate donations, alliances with national and international organizations, and fundraising events. Our Self-Financing Programs (TIKITIKAS Cookies, and “Until the Last Cartridge”) are temporarily inactive.

Is Fundana only in Caracas?

We are only located in Caracas, but we receive, protect and support children and their families from throughout Venezuela.

If you are residing in Venezuela, you can apply as a substitute family to our Program: "grow up and Small". For adoption, you must do the procedure through the State agencies: www.idena.gob.ve/

Can I choose the child I want?

When you apply as a foster family, part of the evaluation process includes a "letter of reasons" in which you can specify the profile of the child you want to host in your home; regarding: age, gender, phenotypic characteristics, health condition, with or without siblings, among others. However, the presentations are made on an individual basis, as a result of the evaluations of the parties involved, by the Family Placement Program team. The child's profile is analyzed, and the possible substitute family that fits their profile is sought.

Where can you make a report of a child who is being abused?

THIS IS A DUTY OF EVERY CITIZEN. You must contact the Council of Protection of that Municipality, and you will be able to anonymously make the complaint of the case. If you do not know the Council's information or cannot contact them, contact FUNDANA by phone and we will immediately process the complaint.

What happens when children do not find a family before they are eight years old?

Our goal is for all children to get in a family modality before that age. It can be :nuclear or extended biological family, foster family or adoptive family. However, sometimes this is not possible, and when the child reaches the age of eight he is referred to a long-term Care Entity that fits his profile.

How is Family Placement different from adoption?

While adoption is an irrevocable and irreversible measure in which the child acquires the status of a son or daughter; Family placement is an interim measure where the child can grow up as one more member of the family, but maintaining some kind of bond with his/her biological family. Exceptionally, it is possible to go from placement to adoption.
